Thank you for contacting us about volunteering at Dassenberg Rescue Centre, it’s great that you want to help us do what we do best: rescue/rehabilitate/rehome!
The Dassenberg Rescue Family relies on the generosity of our volunteers to invest their time, their love and skills, to do what is needed. If you got lots of love and time to give, our doggies will go mad for you and we’ll know you’re the right person we are looking for. As a kennel volunteer, you will be 16 years and older, you will be giving our puppies and dogs what they need most: personal attention, hands-on care, love, exercise, training, and spending quality time at our fun park.
Depending on your level of experience you may be asked to help in the following ways:
KENNELS
As a kennel volunteer, you will give our dogs what they need most, personal attention, hands-on care, love, exercise, training, spending some quality time with toys in their enclosure or in the fun-park or bit of grooming.
WALKER
Once you’re familiar with our dogs, the walking areas and generally more confident and at ease, activities will include walking the dogs alone, manner training, helping with physiotherapy and agility training.
SOCIALIZATION AND REHABILITATION
Someone who is experienced with traumatized dogs, but not with training. They will help us socialize dogs with humans and teaching them to trust humans again.
GROOMER
A beginner who can help groom and upkeep the dogs on a regular basis under the supervision of someone with experience.
WORK WITH KIDS AND DOGS
For those that love kids, sign up to assist us with basic agility classes with kids from disadvantaged areas.
