At Dassenberg Rescue Centre, we believe that animals can work miracles, and this belief underpins the work we do. The beauty of animals – even neglected and abused animals – is not just the resilience they embody, but also the bonds they form with people.
Our rescue centre is our genesis story, and it’s where we rehabilitate and re-home neglected horses and dogs. These animals started out as victims, but soon became the real heroes – the vital connection in our community outreach work.
We’re now proud to partner with incredible people and community residents in a bigger, more beautiful dream of restoration that spreads far and wide within our local neighbourhood – offering health, hope and new life to children, adults and every living thing caught up in the movement.

FUNDS OR GOODS
every little bit helps
If you feel you can offer these beautiful animals what they need and deserve, and you have been approved by the adoption department, you could be part of making a once very abused and neglected animal a very grateful and loyal companion.
Please contact Mayanna today to make an appointment. She will introduce you to the animals up for adoption and explain the adoption procedures to you.
At Dassenberg we are looking for special people, animal people. Susy Thirion is an example of just one of these sorts of people.
“I started volunteering at Dassenberg in 2010. At that time we adopted Rocky. Our little poodle, Zoe, has become best friends with Rocky and they love to run on the beach and play together. I wasn’t looking to adopt another dog but fell in love with DeeCee during the Dassenberg Sleepathon last year. It took a couple of months to get DeeCee properly settled but he is now part of our family!”
DONATE + SPONSOR
Dassenberg is a non-profit company that receives no government funding. This means we rely heavily on donations and income from the public. Just to give you an idea, our animal food bill alone runs over R13 000 a month – and does not even include the cost of groomers, medical expenses or general maintenance.
If you like our philosophy, please support us by making a donation!
